Question:

You offer two mAbs recognising VZV gE and give the same J. Virol. reference for each. Could you please give me some more information about their epitope specificity? Is one of them 3B3 (or another mAb with identical specificity)? Do you have any other references to use of these particular clones? I am keen to get hold of a good mAb against this Ag urgently for use in IF and Western. 

Resolution:

The reference given in the specification sheet is primarily intended for background information on the gE protein. The antibodies have not been analyzed for what epitope they recognize.

Both antibodies react well in IFA and in western blot showing the 90 KD mature product. The difference between VA030 anti-gE and VA031 anti-gE is that the later does not immunoprecipitate the 58 KD immature translation product.
