Question:

I ordered the Cytomegalovirus ICP36 Monoclonal antibody (Catalog Number CA006-100) from your company and received it today. As the antibody should be used at a dilution of 1:80000 for Western Blotting I would like to dilute the antibody before aliquoting and freezing it. Which solution would you recommend for diluting the antibody before freezing?

Resolution:

The use dilutions assayed for the Certificate of Analysis are appropriate for our assay system and antigen. Your results may be different. You may have to titrate it in your assay for optimal results.

That said, diluting the antibody prior to freezing needs to be done in a protein containing solution. We would recommend PBS - 10 mg/ml Protease Free Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA). This will stabilize low antibody concentrations to the effects of a freeze-thaw.
