The size of the gC protein from genebank is 511aa, which is approximately 56 kDa. I'm wondering why is the band shown in the data sheet at 81 kDa?

Does your gC monoclonal antibody recognise both the glycosylated and unglycosylated form of gC?

The antibody recognises the precurser glycosylated form - this is the reason for the higher apparent MW in the western.
